The last vehicle powered by the air cooled VW Boxer engine still being manufactured now is the Kombi, how the VW transporter is called here in Brazil. Next the air cooled engine will be substituted by a water cooled one and the Porsche's Motor era will come to an end.
THIS IS THE LAST REMAINIG LINK OF THE SUCCESFULL CHAIN ESTABLISHED BY PORSCHE SO MANY YEARS AGO.
I dare to say that this engine was an important element for the humanity, VW lovers or not - almost everyone from our days did ride a vehicle powered by this motor that was produced in many countries and used in almost all parts of the earth even in the South Pole!
Contact with VW do Brasil, last manufacturer on earth still producing VW air cooled motor in series, was started since last year pointing out the major importance of this fact. Hopefully that advice will be followed, but no official answer to these alerts was received up to now. Resuming, there is no confirmation if the end of the VW air cooled boxer motor designed by Porsche will be commemorated according to its universal importance or if it will be a silent and bureaucratic end.
We would like to hear your opinion about this fact, and if you evaluate the importance of this event as we do we suggest to you to encourage the VW Beetle lovers you may have access to, to address Volkswagen do Brasil telling how important the boxer air-cooled motor designed by this great automotive genius that Dr. Ferdinand Porsche is for the automotive history. This applies also to other automobiles equipped with this motor, like Transporters, Karmann-Ghias, Things, Variants, TL's and so one. This will be a celebration of ideas remembering Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and his creation and will help to show that there are persons that care for the maintenance of the automotive history.
Probably the right address to be contacted at Volkswagen do Brasil is the Press Department, and the address that is available trough the Internet
(http://www.automotivebusiness.com.br/imprensa%20montadoras.htm), is the address of the Corporative and Press Director Mrs. Júnia de Sá and the e-mail address is of the Corporate Press Attaché Mr. Flávio Chantre:

We really do believe that a common action of those who care about the faithful VW Boxer motor heritage is urgently needed. What do you think about divulging this fact to all VW lovers that do have any connection to the boxer motor in order to incite them to write to Volkswagen do Brasil asking about the farewell that will be made as homage to this important piece of automotive engineering?
Goodbye old buddy!
We won't forget you...
Well, that's what we have for the moment
Kind regards
